I have been teaching French as a Foreign Language for over 20 years, and I believe that the key is to take pleasure in learning and to communicate as much as possible. There’s nothing like immersion to achieve this, so that teaching is immersed in the tangible and cultural aspects.
We lived abroad for 17 years, in Spain. Personally, I learned the language on the ground, immersed in the culture. The language opened the doors to communication, listening, and the richness of friendships. Life abroad taught us what discovering a new culture entails: exploring a territory, welcoming, guiding, and opening up to others.
For our language immersion stays, we have chosen the family hamlet. My parents, pioneers in organic agriculture, revived this hamlet over forty years ago. They gave us this extraordinary living space that everyone falls in love with. It is a place made for sharing and the ideal setting for language immersion stays.
